I used one of these with my six kids and am looking forward to using it with my expected grandchild! I paid $10 for mine, 27 years ago, and it was the best $10 I ever spent! I have literally used it hundreds of times and it is still in perfect working order.

This is a tool, and tools are only good for their intended use, and when used correctly. It is important to understand that this kind of baby food mill is not really designed for making batches of baby food, in advance. Some moms have done so but I think that, if you want to freeze baby food, you should probably check out an electric baby food grinder or just use your blender or immersion blender.

This is primarily meant for making single servings of table foods for baby, as you are feeding the rest of your family. Although many foods don't need to have anything added to them, some thick things are helped by adding a little water and some runny things are helped by adding a tiny bit of instant baby cereal to thicken them a bit. You can do some hard things, like raw apples, if you dice them first.

It is also good to know that this is not designed to puree foods and will only do is if they are extremely soft to begin with. Most food comes out more like the junior baby foods, with some texture.

This is a great product when used as intended! user review

My mom bought this for me as a gift. It grinds food to a slightly chunky texture - not good for first foods, but better for slightly older babies. Very easy to use, but a bit putzy to clean. user review

I really liked using this food mill when my baby was 6-8 months old. It allowed me to feed him more table foods. I cooked potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots and ran them through the food mill and then froze them in baby food containers or ice cube trays. That way my baby had perfect portions of food he could eat without having to spend money on jar baby food. Also, I was more comfortable feeding him food I made because I knew exactly what was in it (no preservatives). You can also grind meat. This food mill is SUPER easy to use, portable, and can go right in the dishwasher. user review
