I am an adoptive mother of six and have used all three devices currently on the market for supplementing the breastfed baby at the breast, including the Medela SNS and Starter SNS, and the Lact-Aid (a specific product, not a generic name for at breast supplementers). When the Starter SNS came on the market, I was nursing my fifth adopted baby and had spent a total about about 35 months using a supplemental device. Despite that, I could not get the Starter SNS to work very well. I could fill the bulb with supplement before I started him nursing but, when that was gone, I couldn't get any more to come down without interrupting him and taking it off. So, except for possibly with someone who only needs to have a little bit coming from the tube at the very beginning of a feeding, I suggest purchasing one of the larger supplementers instead. The savings in purchase price would not be a savings in the long run! Medela also has a finger feeder which, although I have not used it, looks to me like it would work better as an at-breast supplementer than the Starter SNS. user review
